 November 24  -  December 17

Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm

“I suppose it would have been better if I had never been born at all,” laments George Bailey in the Christmas classic “It’s A Wonderful Life, the Musical” which opens Friday November 24th at the Woodland Opera House.

This quintessential Christmas story, which runs Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through Dec. 17, tells the saga of George Bailey, “the everyman from small town Bedford Falls” whose dreams of escape and adventure are repeatedly quashed by his family obligations and civic duty.

The play finds George on Christmas Eve, in serious trouble, and with the whole town praying for him. Clarence Oddbody, his guardian angel, is sent down from the heavens to save him.

Clarence, who still needs to earn his wings, must save George and sets out to show him what the world would be like “had he never been born.”

Based on the beloved 1946 film, this musical faithfully follows George Bailey's life from his childhood dreams to his midlife disappointments and beyond, as we all take a journey to discover whether his life has mattered at all. Cinematically scored and theatrically staged, this adaptation breathes musical life into a familiar story, while retaining the warmth, humor, and pathos of the original. A new holiday classic for devotees and newcomers alike

The show is directed by Dean Shellenberger (“The Diary of Ann Frank” and “The Miracle Worker”), with musical direction by James Glica-Hernandez (“Beauty and the Beast”) and choreography by Staci Arriaga (“West Side Story”)  The cast includes Erik Catalan as George Bailey, Jori Gonzalez as Mary Bailey, Richard Lui as Clarence the angel, Steve Mackay as Uncle Billy, Josh Wheeler as Harry Bailey, Kyle Hadley as Sam, Nancy Agee as Ma Bailey, Stephanie Hodson as Violet, and James Glica-Hernandez as Mr. Potter.
