Woodland Opera House 2014-15 School Outreach Program


Working with the Yolo County Superintendent of Schools office, W.O.H. showcases professional and Theatre for Families artists during the school year that local schools bring their students, grades K-12, to see for a very small fee per attendee. Outreach show attendance is reserved through your child’s teacher or resource person in advance with the W.O.H Box Office

Kenn Adams Adventure Theatre!

September 18, 2014 - 9:30 & 12:30 - Cost is $5 per person. Grades K-6

Attention Teachers, students, and heroes of all ages! Fun and learning are coming your way with Kenn Adam's Adventure Theater! Episode I: Adventure in Space! Be a part of this zany, interactive theatrical adventure where audience members make all of the sound effects, help to create the story, and leap up on stage to play the main characters. You'll blast off in a flying saucer, do battle with a horrible space-monster, meet the strange, three-headed space-wizard, defeat the villain, and save the world! And, you might even learn a bit about child empowerment and "finding the hero in all of us." Kenn Adams' Adventure Theater! meets California Common Core State Standards in reading, writing, English-language arts, and theater. Teacher's Guide is available upon request.

The Miracle Worker 

October 23, 2014 - 9:30. This show is 2 hours long. Cost is $5 per person. Grades 4th - 12th

The Miracle Worker dramatizes the volatile relationship between the lonely teacher and her charge, Helen Keller. Trapped in a secret, silent world, unable to communicate, Helen is violent, spoiled, and almost sub-human and treated by her family as such. Only Annie realizes that there is a mind and spirit waiting to be rescued from the dark, tortured silence.

Scrooge ~ A Christmas Tale

December 4, 2014 - 9:30 & 12:30 Cost is $5 per person. Grades K - 6

Scrooge, a Christmas Tale is  a heartwarming tale based on the classic novel by Charles Dickens. Ebenezer Scrooge is a bitter, unkind man of great wealth who values money more than happiness and the comfort of others. But on Christmas Eve, he is forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts lead him through his past, present, and future. Scrooge recognizes his faults and wakes up on Christmas morning with a new and joyful spirit.

Disney's My Son Pinocchio

January 15, 2015 - 9:30 & 12:30 Cost is $5 per person.  Grades K - 6

The classic tale of an aging toymaker and his puppet, Pinocchio, takes on timely issues in Disney's “My Son Pinocchio”. Grammy Award winner and master melodist Stephen Schwartz adds a compelling score of original songs to the beloved classics “When You Wish Upon a Star” and “I’ve Got No Strings”.

A Year with Frog and Toad

March 26, 2015 - 9:30 & 12:30 Cost is $5 per person.  Grades K- 6

Arnold Lobel's well-loved characters hop from the page to the stage in Robert and Willie Reale's Tony-nominated musical A Year with Frog and Toad. This whimsical show follows two great friends -- the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad -- through four, fun-filled seasons. A Year with Frog and Toad bubbles with tenderness and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant, and enchanting musical for all ages.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

June 4, 2015 - 9:30 & 12:30 Cost is $5 per person.   Grades K-6

The play is based on Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the enigmatic candy man as he stages a contest in a quest to find an heir to the candy factory. It guarantees to take audiences on a fantasy ride into the land of pure imagination!

  • Reservations not paid for by the deadline will be released to waiting classes.
  • No refunds will be issued.
  • Seating policy is: younger students to the front.
  • Indicate special seating needs or disabilities in your order.
  • Shows begin at scheduled times. Running time is approximately 60-80 minutes.
  • Miracle Worker is 2 hours
  • Late comers will be seated at appropriate breaks.
