The Woodland Opera House has announced effective
January 31, 2014 the retirement of Jeff Kean, Executive Director.
Kean has served in the position since July 1996. "It is with no small amount of sadness that I reached this decision." Kean explained. "I will be moving to the Los Angeles area for personal reasons and don't yet know what path my career will take." In the 18 years under Kean's direction the Opera House stabilized their finances, made many facility improvements, established an Endowment Fund and Arts Education Program, purchased and renovated a dance center, and developed a regional reputation for production and administrative excellence.
The Opera House Board of Trustees has approved Angela Baltezore, long time WOH Education Director, to succeed Kean as Executive Director. "Angela is the perfect choice to continue our traditions and build upon our success." Kean noted.
The Board of Trustees accepted Jeff Kean’s resignation with regret and is deeply grateful for his nearly two decades of outstanding service. The Board also enthusiastically supports Kean’s successor, Angela Baltezore for the Executive Director role and is confident she will lead the organization to even greater success building upon the solid foundation left by Kean.
Angela Frost Baltezore has over 30 years experience in education and theatre having taught and directed in San Diego, Yuba City and at Woodland High School. Baltezore has a long history at the Woodland Opera House beginning in 1975 when she appeared on stage with the Way Off Broadway Players. She developed the Show Biz Kidz Summer Theatre Camp program at the Woodland Opera House in 1996. Baltezore became the full-time Education Director in 2002 developing a comprehensive theatre and dance education program now serving over 300 students each year.
