Studio Policies

ATTENDANCE

Consistent attendance is crucial for the success of both the individual student and the class as a whole. In order to maintain the integrity of the learning experience and to ensure that all students can fully participate and progress, we kindly remind families of the importance of regular attendance.

Should a student have repeated absences that impact their ability to engage with the class or the group's ability to move forward, we may need to reevaluate their enrollment in the class. Our goal is always to provide a positive and productive environment for everyone involved.

STUDIO ETIQUETTE

Studio Conduct:

Arrive on time and be prepared. If you will be late, notify your instructor in advance.
Wear the required dance attire per our dress code requirements for every class. Students not in proper attire may be asked to observe rather than participate. (All dress code requirements are listed on our website under each respective class.)
Respect personal space and boundaries. Keep your hands and body to yourself.
Use appropriate language and tone. Conversations that disrupt class or make others uncomfortable must stop immediately.
Listen carefully to your instructor’s directions and participate fully in class.
Wait for the instructor’s approval before speaking or leaving the classroom.
Walk, don’t run in the studio and hallways.
Keep all personal belongings in the designated cubbies during class.
Electronic devices are not permitted during class unless being used to record with teacher permission. Unauthorized use of devices may result in dismissal from class.
Respect studio property and only use items with permission. Ballet barres should only be used when instructed by the teacher.
Use the restroom before class begins.
Water in sealed bottles is permitted; no other food or drinks are allowed in the studio.

OBSERVER POLICY

To minimize distractions and maintain a focused learning environment, friends and family members are not permitted to attend class as observers unless it is for a scheduled in-class presentation or showcase. We look forward to welcoming families to those special events to celebrate students’ progress.

LOBBY POLICY

Students should not arrive to the studio more than 10 minutes before scheduled class time. Students who are under the age of 12 who are staying in the lobby must be supervised by parent/guardian at all times. The lobby is a quite zone. Please use quiet voices only. If you need to take a phone call, please step outside. Audio should be used on electronic devices with headsets.

LATE PICK UP

To ensure the safety of all students and the respect of staff members’ time, families must pick students up promptly at the end of class.

A 10-minute grace period will be given after class dismissal.
After the 10-minute grace period, a $1-per-minute fee will be charged for every minute past the grace period.

Repeated or egregious late pick-ups may result in dismissal from the program.

refund Policy

We understand that circumstances may change, and we are happy to accommodate refund requests prior to the start of a class or workshop. However, once a class or workshop has begun, we are unable to provide refunds. This policy helps us maintain the quality and commitment of our programs while ensuring fairness to all participants.

Class CancelLations

We strive to provide consistent and reliable scheduling for all our classes. However, in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather or last-minute emergencies, families will be promptly notified via phone and/or email. In these instances, we will offer either a single class credit applied to the account on file or a comparable makeup class, if available.

All classes must meet a minimum enrollment requirement to remain on our schedule. If a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will issue full refunds to all affected participants.

Acting Workshops

Ballet

At the Woodland Opera House, our ballet class offerings are designed to inspire and challenge youth dancers of all ages and skill levels. Whether your child is a beginner looking to learn the basics of ballet or an experienced dancer aiming to refine their technique, our classes provide a supportive and enriching environment. Led by experienced instructors, our ballet program focuses on classical ballet techniques combined with elements of modern dance to enhance physical dexterity and artistic expression. Join us to experience the grace and beauty of ballet while improving strength, flexibility, and performance skills.

Dress Code:
Preparatory Ballet: Solid black leotard or skirted leotard, solid pink ballet tights, pink ballet shoes. Boys: black leggings or shorts, white or black t-shirt, ballet shoes.

Beginning Ballet, Levels 1-5: Solid black leotard, solid pink ballet tights, pink ballet shoes. Optional: Black fitted ballet shorts. Boys: black leggings or shorts, white or black t-shirt, ballet shoes.

Broadway Masterclasses

We host exclusive dance and vocal workshops led by cast members from Broadway national tours and leading industry professionals. These masterclasses offer a unique opportunity to learn from the best, refine your skills, and gain insider knowledge of the theatre world. Join us for an unforgettable experience that brings the thrill of Broadway to you! All include a short Q&A session.

Dress Code:

Dance Workshops: comfortable dance or workout attire that you can move well in. Jazz shoes or jazz sneakers (or appropriate footwear for the masterclass.)

Contemporary

Our Contemporary Dance program at the Woodland Opera House offers dynamic, intermediate-level training for individuals aged 16 and above (or with instructor approval based on skill.) Designed to enhance technique and creativity, this program provides a supportive environment where dancers can explore modern choreography, develop their unique style, and build confidence on stage. Join us to elevate your dance skills and express yourself through the captivating art of contemporary dance.

Dancers must be in Level 3 ballet or higher or if an adult, equivalent experience to enroll. Administrative approval and placement assessment is needed for outside students to attend.

Dress Code:
Solid black leotard, solid pink ballet tights, tan turning shoes and/or Foot Undeez. Optional: Black fitted ballet shorts. Male/male identifying: black leggings or shorts, white or black t-shirt, ballet shoes.

Hip-Hop

Musical Theatre Workshops

Join our exciting Themed Musical Theatre Workshops at the Woodland Opera House! Held each Fall and Spring, these 8 to 9 week sessions culminate in a themed musical revue performed on our historic stage. With classes for Kinder through 2nd grade, 3rd through 5th grade, and 6th through 12th grade, we offer multiple options tailored to each age group. Participants will learn singing, dancing, and acting skills while working towards a spectacular final performance. Unleash your inner star and create unforgettable memories in our vibrant and supportive community!

Each session gets their own costume T-shirt to wear for the performances.

Spring 2025: The Quest Begins! Workshops run February 4th through April 6th, 2025.

Performs: Saturday, April 5th at 2 pm and Sunday, April 6th at 2 pm.

ShowBiz Kidz Musical Theatre Summer Camp

Enrollment Opens January 8th! - Join us for an unforgettable summer of music, dance, and fun as we step into the spotlight with ShowBiz Kidz: Tinseltown Tunes! This exciting camp runs from June 16th through July 13th, 2025, and culminates in a fully produced musical revue celebrating the magic of Hollywood.
We offer three age-specific groups to ensure every performer gets the best experience possible:

Morning Group

Ages: 8-10
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM

Afternoon Group

Ages: 11-17
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM–4:00 PM

Junior Group

Ages: 5-7 (must have completed kindergarten)
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 4:30 PM–5:30 PM

Important Details

Tuition: $400 for Morning and Afternoon Groups (non-refundable once paid in full).
Payment Deadline: May 16th, 2025.
Mandatory Attendance: All rehearsals and performances are required.
Age Brackets: Age requirements are firm; students must meet the minimum age by the start of camp.
