Meet the Creative Team
|
Danika sudik, director
Danika Sudik has worked in arts education and new works development for twenty years, developing programs and curricula and serves as a group facilitator and teaching artist. Her education programs and curricula have been used by Center Theatre Group’s Mark Taper Forum and Kirk Douglas Theatre, The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center, Bonnie Franklin’s Classic & Contemporary American Plays, and Journeys in Film, amongst others. Ms. Sudik is an Ovation-nominated producer, director, and dramaturg. After earning her Master of Fine Arts, she co-founded and directed the Ground and Field Theatre Festival, a three-year sandbox partnership with UC Davis that invited international playwrights to create new plays and musicals centering on social, economic, and environmental sustainability. She is currently a lecturer at the University of California, Davis, where she teaches courses in the Departments of Theatre and Dance and Cinema and Digital Media. As a Theatrical Intimacy Education Advocate, she creates consent-based and people-focused classrooms, rehearsal spaces, and environments. Ms. Sudik volunteers as a Survivor Fellow and Survivors Connect Lead with Everytown Survivor Network, a nationwide community of survivors working together to end gun violence. She belongs to the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and the American Federation of Teachers. Her proudest creative endeavor is parenting her three extraordinary children. Tom Burmester, director/Scenographer
Tom Burmester is the Executive Director of the Woodland Opera House, where he recently directed "Amélie." As a producer, theatre-maker, and educator, Tom's career spans innovative work across California. At Center Theatre Group, he designed participatory experiences for audiences at major Los Angeles venues, collaborating with renowned artists and earning recognition in American Theatre magazine. As founding Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Theatre Ensemble, he produced and directed over 30 new plays, developing an acclaimed ensemble while managing the historic Powerhouse Theatre. His War Cycle project earned Ovation Award nominations and special recognition from LA Weekly. Tom co-founded UC Davis's Ground and Field Theatre Festival, developing new works centered on sustainability themes. He taught theatre courses at St. Mary's College, UCLA and UC Davis. He holds a PhD in Performance Studies from UC Davis, an MFA in Directing from UCLA, and a BA in Theatre and Dance from UC Davis. Tom belongs to the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. |

Missy day, music director
Missy Day has been singing onstage and at church her entire life, and has been writing and/or directing plays for half of it. She has a BA from Biola University and teaches performing arts (drama and choir) at Woodland Christian Middle and High School, and she has taught private vocal lessons for over 15 years. She’s also a mom to five beautiful and clever daughters, a wife to a handsome and hardworking business owner, and a grateful daughter of the King of Kings. |
