Rising Stars
Youth Productions

AUdition Information

Starring On Stage, Succeeding in Life

The Woodland Opera House’s youth educational theatre series, the Rising Stars Youth Productions, is a nationally recognized award-winning theatre program open to youth performers between the ages of 7 years old and 18 years old (must be a High School Senior.)  We have currently produce three annual productions: Rising Stars All Ages (ages 7 through High School Senior), Rising Stars for ages 7 through 12 years old, and our Rising Stars/JTF Troupe, which is open to ages 12 through High School Senior.

Each production is fully produced by the Woodland Opera House and helmed by a professional creative team. Young performers get the opportunity to learn about the mechanics of theatre production, vocal technique, acting, and dance within an encouraging and positive environment where performers are free to learn and be their unique selves.

While our popular Musical Theatre Workshops and ShowBiz Kidz summer camps are open to all without audition, our Rising Stars Productions are by audition-only. Auditions are usually held a month before the rehearsals begin. Since these are educationally based, every rehearsal is also a mini-lesson in everything theatre related.

Award Winning-Theatre Program

Our JTF Troupe production also attends the annual Junior Theatre Festival West annually.  Created and produced by iTheatrics, and sponsored by the likes of Music Theatre International (MTI), Disney Musicals, iHeart Radio Broadway, Playbill, and more, the Junior Theatre Festival West is a weekend event that brings in theatre groups from across the globe for a celebration in all things theatre.  Groups present a 15-minute piece from a previously produced Broadway Junior or Broadway KIDS title for adjudication. The festival also includes workshops from industry professionals, as well as concerts and presentations from Broadway stars and composers.

In 2025, our young performers had the honor of being a part of the West Coast Premiere of Dare to Dream JR, a Disney musical revue! We produced the pilot in July of 2024 and came together with two other youth theatre companies (Musical Mayhem Productions and Spark of Creation Studio) to perform the new script in front of a festival crowd of over 2,500!

Our program has had the fortune to bring home the following awards from JTF West:
2025 -  Excellence in Acting - Mean Girls JR.
2024 – Outstanding Production Award – Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical JR.
2023 – Excellence in Ensemble Work – Godspell JR.
2022 – Excellence in Ensemble Work – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang JR.

We look forward to attending the 2026 Junior Theatre Festival!

“The kids from Woodland Opera House were a definite stand out at this year’s JTF.  The group was a well oiled machine and it was clear that they had amazing training from their director and choreographer. It’s important at this age to learn proper technique and it was abundantly clear that the folks at Woodland Opera House are doing just that.”

– Jeff Calhoun, Director, Disney’s Newsies on Broadway, JTF West 2024.

”It’s clear that their theater program helps create confident young artists who work incredibly well as an ensemble and take pride in their work.”
– Rob Rokicki, Broadway Composer of The Lightning Thief, The Percy Jackson Musical,
 JTF West 2023
