It's WEEK 2 and boy are we excited to continue to put this fun country musical revue together! A few reminders: 1. Please remind students to always bring their folders with them to camp. These folders contain lyric sheets and scenes that they will be working on throughout their session. 2. YES - We have camp on Friday! It should be yet another week of learning choreography, music, scenes - and new line dances! We can't wait! Yeehaw! Hello ShowBiz Kidz Families,
We have been asked by the City to share an important reminder regarding drop-off and pick-up procedures at the Theatre & Dance Annex. If you are using the drive behind the Annex for a quick drop-off or pick-up, please help us keep the area safe and accessible by following these guidelines:
We appreciate everyone's cooperation and thank you for helping us be good neighbors! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. Hello ShowBiz Kidz Families!
As we settle into our summer together, we wanted to send a few quick reminders about communication. ShowBiz Kidz Blog Our SBK Blog is the best place to find the most up-to-date information throughout the summer, including reminders, schedules, important announcements, costume information, and other resources. We encourage families to check it regularly. You can find the blog here: https://www.woodlandoperahouse.org/showbizkidz26 Absences If your child will be absent or arriving late, please notify us by emailing us. During the summer, our front desk is not staffed as consistently, so emailing the Education Department is the quickest and most reliable way to ensure your child's instructors receive the information. Thank you for helping us keep communication running smoothly. We're looking forward to another wonderful week of The Wild, Wild West! One of the things that makes ShowBiz Kidz so special is how much our performers accomplish in just four short weeks. Between songs, choreography, scenes, and staging, students learn a tremendous amount of material in a very short period of time.
To support their success, we ask families to encourage consistent at-home practice throughout the summer. The links to each group's Google Drive Practice Folder were distributed via email. If you did not receive that email or cannot locate it, please contact the Education Department and we will be happy to resend the appropriate link. Each group's folder contains rehearsal resources such as:
At-home practice does not need to be lengthy to be effective. Even 10-15 minutes a few times each week can make a significant difference. Some ways students can practice include:
A Note About Lyrics As we continue building The Wild, Wild West, our creative team is actively adapting some lyrics and wording to make them more age-appropriate for our performers. Because many country songs contain references intended for adult audiences, some of the digital files may still contain original lyrics that differ from what students are learning in rehearsal. If you notice discrepancies between the practice materials and what your child is singing in class, don't worry. We will teach and reinforce all approved performance lyrics during rehearsals. Thank you for helping your performer prepare at home. Your support plays an important role in helping us create a fun, successful, and confidence-building experience for every student this summer. Dear ShowBiz Kidz Families,
We’re so excited to kick off ShowBiz Kidz: Wild Wild West on Monday, June 22nd at the Woodland Opera House Dance Annex (520 Court St). Below are some important reminders to ensure the first day runs smoothly for everyone! Drop-Off Details (Theatre and Dance Annex, June 22 – July 19): Drop-off is located at the back of the building via Dead Cat Alley. You may not park or idle in the marked parking spots, as this is City of Woodland property. If you need to walk your child in, please use the free public lot on the corner of Court and College, then walk around to the back. Otherwise, quick drop-offs are fine — just keep traffic moving and do not block any driveways or reserved spaces. The back door will open ten minutes before each camp session's start time. Pick-Up Procedures (Theatre and Dance Annex): Morning Group (Ages 8–10): Pick-up will be through the lobby to the Clark Pacific Room (main studio at the front of the building). Parents/guardians will enter through one door, find their child, and exit through the other to keep things flowing. Junior Group (Ages 5–7): Staff will escort Juniors to the front door for pickup. Afternoon Group (Ages 11–17): Pick-up is also at the front entrance. If your student is 12 or older and will leave on their own, they must have a signed Permission to Leave Form, available on the SBK page of our website. Please bring this on the first day. Late Pickups: After a 10-minute grace period, a $1/minute fee will be charged. Please be prompt so our team can transition between sessions. Key Dates & Locations: Camp runs Monday, June 22 – Friday, July 19 Morning Group Meets M-F 9:00 am to 12:00 pm; Afternoon Group Meets M-F 1:00 to 4:00 pm; Juniors meet M-W-F from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.
