What's The Little Mermaid about?
This timeless story tells the tale of Ariel, a curious young mermaid princess who dreams of life beyond the sea. Fascinated by the human world above (and especially by the dashing Prince Eric) Ariel longs to explore a future different from the one her father, King Triton, has chosen for her. The musical traces its roots to Hans Christian Andersen’s 1837 fairy tale, a story that has captivated generations with its themes of longing, transformation, and hope. While Disney’s adaptation brings a brighter tone, humor, and a joyous musical spirit, it preserves the heart of the original tale: the courage it takes to grow up, take risks, and discover where we truly belong.
After rescuing Eric during a storm at sea, Ariel makes a daring choice that changes her life forever. She strikes a dangerous bargain with the sea witch Ursula, trading her voice for the chance to walk on land. With only a short time to earn Eric’s true love, Ariel must navigate an unfamiliar world with help from her loyal friends Sebastian, Flounder, and Scuttle.
Bursting with colorful characters, dazzling theatrical spectacle, and unforgettable songs including “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl,” and “Part of Your World,” this production promises delight for Disney fans and musical theatre lovers of all ages.
