The Woodland Opera House acknowledges the land on which our historic theatre stands. For thousands of years, this land has been the home of the Patwin people. Today, there are three federally recognized Patwin tribes: the Cachil DeHe Band of Wintun Indians of the Colusa Indian Community, the Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation, and the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.
The Patwin people have remained committed stewards of this land over many centuries. They have cherished and protected it, passing down its importance through generations of elders. We are honored and grateful to host our cultural events and community gatherings on their ancestral lands. The Woodland Opera House pays respect to the Patwin people, past and present, and honors their enduring connection to this place. |
